The Tearfall, -31,000SG A rain of meteors falls to the earth from above, and the first of dragonkind appear shortly thereafter. Sages speculate to this day if this calamitous event precipitated a massive shift in climate across the realm, triggering the rapid rise of proto-dragons into the true dragon species. Other scholars write that the meteors were, perhaps, falling dragon eggs which hatched the varied races of dragonkind.
the Dawn Age, -30,000SG to -24,000SG
From the union of divinities spring giantkind, who march unopposed across the realm and claim all they see as their own. Yet only centuries pass before the dragon interlopers mature into a sufficient threat to the giants' very existance. Taking the lesser mortal species as their slaves and armies, dragonkind descend as viciously upon their own brothers as the giants. Under the onslaught, the giant civilisations were only granted a few millennia's ascent to supremacy before their tenuous hold began to slip upon the lands.
Despite the appearance of many lesser giantkin species, also said to have been birthed by the gods themselves, no force seemed able to prevent the eventual downfall of the giant's empires. Finally, a truce was offered between the dragons and the giants, and both heavily decimated forces withdrew from battle, only to be set upon by the long-suffering mortal servants, no longer willing to be mere pawns in the rivalry of the two mighty forces. Humans, halflings and gnomes, elves and dwarves, all rebelled against their former masters and their enemies. With their numbers in even further decline, both dragons and giantkin went into hiding, bringing the Dawn Age to an end and signalling the rise of the Elves.
