Sorcerer Bloodlines

(To pick a bloodline: <advance class special> )

Filled with magical power that screams for release, sorcery is not so much a calling as a blessing, or a curse. For some sorcerers, this arcane birthright manifests in subtle and carefully controlled ways, assisting in their manipulation of others or the pursuit of lofty goals. For others, it is wild and unpredictable, the primal and explosive lashing out of a power greater than themselves. Presented below are a number of bloodlines representing the origin of your sorcerer abilities.

Please note that this choice is permanent, and will remain even through abandonment of levels.

Aberrant

Resonances Allowed: All

There is a taint in your blood, one that is alien and bizarre. You tend to think in odd ways, approaching problems from an angle that most would not expect. Over time, this taint manifests itself in your physical form.

Bloodline Arcana: You are better than most at changing into all manner of shapes, granting a +1 to clevel when using any shape-changing spell.

Aberrant Form (L31): Your body becomes truly unnatural, causing others to wonder where they should hit you. You become immune to critical hits.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: dungeoneering

Bonus Spells: enlarge person, detect invisibility, tongues, black tentacles, prying eyes, impenetrable veil, phase door, shapechange

Abyssal

Resonances Allowed: Dark

Generations ago, a demon spread its filth into your heritage. While it does not manifest in all of your kin, for you it is particularly strong. You find yourself pulled towards the dark, enticed by its allure. Those with the abyssal bloodline are always of a dark resonance.

Bloodline Arcana: When using Monster Summoning spells, your summoned minions gain Damage Resistance and Spell Damage Resistance equal to 1 + clevel / 10.

Demonic Might (L31): The power of the abyss flows through you, granting Poison and Electricity resistance percent equal to 20 + sorcerer level * 2

Bonus Bloodline Skill: athletics

Bonus Spells: acid splash, darkness, acid orb, fear, domination, impenetrable veil, acid fog, resonant aura, monster summoning ix

Arcane

Resonances Allowed: All

Your family has always been skilled in the eldritch art of magic. While many of your relatives were accomplished wizards, your powers developed without the need for study and practice.

Bloodline Arcana: You gain use of the arcane bond feat, and can summon a familiar. The Sorcerer also gains one additional bonus mastery slot (like spell knowledge).

Metamagic Adept (L31): You are particularly adept at the use of metamagic. When applying metamagic to a spell, increase that spell's DC by 1.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: none

Bonus Spells: identify, invisibility, dispel magic, dimension door, siphon magic, true seeing, limited wish, powerword stun, disjunction

Boreal

Resonances Allowed: All

Descended from inhabitants of the lands of ice and snow, you count among your ancestors giant-kin, troll-born, and frost-rimed spirits. Their savage and raw energies flow down through generations to infuse you to the marrow with the chill of the polar wind, crackling auroras, and the long winter night.

Bloodline Arcana: Your frozen heritage empowers your spells, granting +1 to clevel and DC of any spell that deals cold damage.

Child of Ancient Winters (L31): You were born with the cold in your veins, the deepest cold of primordial winter. You gain scaling cold resistance percent equal to 20 + sorcerer level * 2. You also gain immunity to fatigue and exhaustion.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: survival

Bonus Spells: biting wind, frostfield, frost orb, ice storm, cone of cold, freezing sphere, avalanche, polar ray, polar midnight

Celestial

Resonances Allowed: Light

Your bloodline is blessed by a celestial power, either from a celestial ancestor or through divine intervention. This power drives you to strive towards ideals of the Light. Those of this bloodline are always of a light resonance.

Bloodline Arcana: You are protected from darkness by your celestial blood, granting you 11 + sorcerer level / 2 spell damage resistance against casters with a dark resonance.

Ascension (L31): Your celestial blood is that of great and powerful creatures of divinity, granting you scaling resistance percent to acid of 20 + sorcerer level * 2.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: healing

Bonus Spells: bless, resist energy, undeath ward, break curse, angelic aspect, greater dispel magic, sunburst, gate

Draconic

Resonances Allowed: All

At some point in your family’s history, a dragon interbred with your bloodline, and now its ancient power flows through your veins.

Bloodline Arcana: You gain the Draconic Blood feat, allowing you to choose your dragon blood type. When casting spells of the element associated with your bloodline, you gain +1 damage per damage die rolled (essentially equal to your clevel). The draconic elements are as follows:

Red/Gold/Brass Fire
Black/Green/Copper Acid
Blue/Bronze Electricity
White/Silver Cold
Shadow Void

Power of Wyrms (L31): Your form becomes infused with draconic power, granting you immunity to your associated draconic bloodline element. You also gain leathery dragon wings and are considered flying for the purposes of commands like wing.

Bonus Spells: armor, resist energy, dispel magic, fear, mind fog, true seeing, spell turning, frightful aspect, overwhelming presence

Earthen

Resonances Allowed: All

The echoing cave-songs and the rumble and creak of primal spirits deep below the ground thrum in your soul and in all your family line. You are likely slow, steady, and stable in your thinking, little prone to wandering and preferring to instead find depth in contemplation.

Bloodline Arcana: Earthen blood fills your veins, granting +1 to clevel and DC of any spell that deals acid or bludgeoning damage.

Dweller in the Depths (L31): You were born with the hardness of stone in your very being. You gain scaling acid resistance percent equal to 20 + sorcerer level * 2. In addition, you gain +3 to damage resistance.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: dungeoneering

Bonus Spells: grease, acid arrow, earthbind, stoneskin, earth reaver, acid fog, statue, earthquake, clashing rocks

Fey

Resonances Allowed: All

The capricious nature of the fey runs in your family due to some intermingling of fey blood or magic. You are more emotional than most, prone to bouts of joy and rage.

Bloodline Arcana: Whenever you cast spells of the enchantment/charm sphere of magic, you gain +1 to spell DC.

Soul of the Fey (L31): Your soul becomes infused with the fey, granting you poison immunity and 10 spell damage resistance.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: survival

Bonus Spells: faerie fire, glitterdust, phantom steed, confusion, domination, eyebite, irresistible dance, overwhelming presence

Ghoul

Resonances Allowed: Dark

Your connection to the hungering undead shapes your magic. Those with a ghoulish bloodline are always of a dark resonance.

Bloodline Arcana: Dealing negative energy damage with spells heals you slightly.

Ghoulish Aspect (L31): You take on the manner and appearance of a ghoul, gaining increased resistance to paralysis (on cooldown).

Bonus Bloodline Skill: stealth

Bonus Spells: chill touch, ray of enfeeblement, vampiric touch, boneshatter, teleport, circle of death, finger of death, horrid wilting

Infernal

Resonances Allowed: Dark

Somewhere in your family history, a relative made a deal with a devil, and that pact has influenced your family line ever since. In you, it manifests in direct and obvious ways, granting you powers and abilities. While your fate is still your own, you cannot help but wonder if your ultimate reward is bound to the Pit. Creatures of this bloodline are pulled towards the dark and are always of a dark resonance.

Bloodline Arcana: You cast spells of the enchantment-charm sphere of magic with a +1 spell DC.

Power of the Pit (L31): Your form becomes infused with infernal power, granting you poison immunity and fire resistance percent equal to 20 + sorcerer level * 2. You also gain dark wings and are considered flying for the purposes of commands like wing.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: none

Bonus Spells: protection from alignment, scorcher, charm monster, hold monster, domination, hellfire ray, greater teleport, powerword stun, meteor swarm

Kobold

Resonances Allowed: All

While many kobold sorcerers tout their purely draconic bloodline, over generations of eldritch training, some such spellcasters have created a bloodline that, while tinged with some draconic magic, is the embodiment of the race's virtue distilled into arcane form. Many practitioners of this bloodline go on to lead powerful kobold tribes.

Bloodline Arcana: When you cast spells against opponents who are vulnerable to you (vulnerable to sneak attacks) you gain +2 to spell DC.

Nimble Walker (L31): You are so in touch with the dextrous nature of your kobold ancestry that you gain a +3 to reflex saving throws.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: dungeoneering

Bonus Spells: reduce person, slow, polymorph, acid breath, tar pool, delayed fireball, protection from spells, greater polymorph

Orc

Resonances Allowed: All

The rage of your ancestors burns within you, and the taint of savage orc blood flows through your veins. Your anger is never far from the surface, giving you strength and driving you to seek greater power.

Bloodline Arcana: When you cast a damaging spell, that spell gains bonus damage based on your charisma.

Warlord Reborn (L31): You inherit the resilience of an orcish warlord ancestor. You gain scaling fire resistance percent of 10 + sorcerer level and +5 damage resistance.

Bonus Bloodline Skill: survival

Bonus Spells: burning hands, scorcher, fireball, wall of fire, cloudkill, tar pool, delayed fireball, iron body, meteor swarm

Stormborn

Resonances Allowed: All

You trace your heritage to fierce and proud spirits of storm and sky, and living lightning sings in your veins.

Bloodline Arcana: When you cast any spell that does sonic or electricity damage, that spell gains +1 clevel and +1 spell DC.

Storm Lord (L31): You are one with the storm. You gain scaling sonic and electricity resistance percent equal to 30 + sorcerer level * 2 (yes, this will heal you at max level).

Bonus Spells: shocking grasp, lightning bolt, gust of wind, ball lightning, lightning arc, chain lightning, phase door, stormbolts, ride the lightning
