Emoteat is an extension of emote ([emote]) that allows you to emote at someone by directing your action towards that person (your target). By using the codes below, you tell your target and everyone else in the room exactly who you are adressing, based on the recognize system ([recognize]). This increases immersion and improves communication.

TARGET is the creature you are directing your emote at. MESSAGE is the action you wish to describe. CODE is the code you use to replace pronouns. Your name will be added to the start of the emote automatically.

Speech Within Emotes:

It is possible to use speech within emotes when using the emoteat tool. To do so, put the text you wish to say inside quotation marks. The spoken text will be displayed in the language you are currently speaking.

A Word of Caution:

While you are free to emote at any living target (including NPCs and mounts), please remember that you only control your own character and any extensions thereof (your followers, your familiar, your horse, etc). Refrain from using emoteat to feign control over coded NPC's in the game world.

Codes:

Refer to the list below for the CODES that can be used with emoteat. The column named Result shows how the code will be seen by you, your target and everyone else in the room respectively.

CODE DESCRIPTION RESULT AS SEEN BY:
$N Your target's name Name / You / Name
$np Target's name in possessive form Name's / Your / Name's
$P Possessive form of the target His/Her / Your / His/Her
$pp Plural possessive form of target His/Hers / Yours / His/Hers
$S Subjective form of target He/She / You / He/She
$O Objective form of target Him/Her / You / Him/Her
$M Your own name You / Your Name

Please note: While the game replaces the above codes with the proper pronouns, it does not add an “s” to the end of verbs. As a courtesy to other players, please add it yourself.

EXAMPLES

In our first example, Karen types:
emoteat charlie Nodding thoughtfully at $np words, $M smiles at $O, before saying “Yes, I agree.

Karen would see:
Nodding thoughtfully at Charlie's words, you smiles at him, before saying “Yes, I agree.”.

Charlie would see:
Nodding thoughtfully at your words, Karen smiles at you, before saying “Yes, I agree.”.

The room would see:
Nodding thoughtfully at Charlie's words, Karen smiles at him, before saying “Yes, I agree.”.

If anyone in the room has Charlie recognized as Carl, they would see that name instead.
