Eldritch Pacts

All warlocks gain their power by means of a pact with one or more entities from another plane. This may be a pact that was made personally by them, or may have been made by their ancestors; it may have been made willingly, or entirely by accident. Whatever the case, the mark that the supernatural powers leave on their warlock servant is upon the soul, not the flesh.

In most cases, these pacts are only granted where the patron sees potential for the warlock to serve their cause. It means that most of these bonds are between similarly aligned powers, and in this the choice of heritage for the warlock must align with their resonance (as described below).

Abyssal Pact

Resonance: Dark
Pact Boon: Silver Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Boon: Acid Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Spells: Diabolic Grasp, Howl of Doom, Harrowstorm, Thirsting Maw, Fiendish Vigor, Soul Theft

Roleplay Considerations: Calling on the powers of the Abyss, the Abyssal Pact warlock seeks to bring the influence of demons into the world. Having made a pact with a powerful demon, they draw their power from the chaos, pain, poison and madness inherent to the Abyss, and embody the unending hunger of demonkind.

Astral Pact

Resonance: Dark & Twilight
Pact Boon: Void Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Boon: Cold Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Spells: Awakened Mind, Dread Star, Frigid Darkness, Eye of the Warlock, Thief of Five Fates, Sign of Ill Omen

Roleplay Considerations: There are beings that lurk in the spaces between the planes, ancient and possessing forbidden knowledge of aeons past. The astral pact is sought by apostate scholars and seekers of buried truths to gain access to such learning. These beings are often of such a scale that they may not notice the bonds formed by these warlocks. Their secrets, however, can be so horrible and alien that it rends the warlock's mind and twists their perception, and if such a being actually notices the warlock…

Fey Pact

Resonance: Dark & Twilight
Pact Boon: Sonic Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Boon: Force Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Spells: Witchfire, Mire the Mind, Eyebite, Bewitching Whispers, Mayhem, Thirsting Tendrils

Roleplay Considerations: Many a story has been told of a noble family, in times of desperation, turning to the dark denizens of the feywild for a favor in return for a hefty price, such as, their firstborn child. Such pacts are perhaps more common than is widely known as the these dark fey are beings of both subtlety and cunning. Those brave, or perhaps foolish enough to deal with the spiteful natures of the fey can reap great rewards and power, or as is typically the case, curses and ruin.

Gloom Pact

Resonance: Dark
Pact Boon: Cold Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Boon: Mental Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Spells: Shadowform, Vampiric Embrace, Whispers of the Grave, Reanimate, Hungry Darkness, Pull of the Grave

Roleplay Considerations: The Plane of Shadows is a dark and gloomy version of the Prime Material. It is a place of depression, death, and hopelessness. Even so, there are some who will make dark deals with the powerful denizens of this shadowy place in pursuit of power.

Infernal Pact

Resonance: Dark
Pact Boon Silver Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Boon Fire Resistance (10 + warlock level) percent
Pact Spells: Scorching Ray, Flames of Mephasm, Hellfire Shield, Soul Flaying, Hellfire, Hurl Through Hell

Roleplay Considerations: Devils, the very essence of bargains and deals, are naturally sought out for dark pacts, signed in blood, to trade souls for power. The great ArchDevil, Mephasm, is said to have sealed a pact with Seija, herself, gaining his exalted position in return for the promise of facing off against the unending threat of the demons in the Abyss. Infernal Pacts typically give the power of hellfire to the practitioner in the ultimate pursuit of Law, Order, Tyranny and Suffering.
